| Located in Greene, Iowa Maxson-Frudden Lumber was originally established as Montgomery and Wilcox. They encountered financial difficulties and sold the business to Typer and Cave. Then C.V. Cave became sole owner, in the 1890's. C.V. Cave gained a partner, M.H. Sproul, and they operated the lumber yard continued to operate until about 1919. A group of investors from Hampton purchased the business and kept it for one year. In October of 1921, N. Frudden (son of Charles City's C.M. Frudden) purchased the lumber yard and remained active for many years. Glen R. Maxson later became a partner in the business and it became known as the Maxson - Frudden Lumber Company. Incorporated in 1975, Glen Maxson and Clyde Frudden were owners. Managers were Donald and Art Krull. Mike Maxson, Glen's son, became employed in 1979, and two years later became manager and stockholder of the business. In 1994 Mike and Paulette Maxson purchased the business from Glen R. Maxson and Dan Frudden. Brett and Emily Ascher became co-owners in 2008. |
